MAJOR UPDATE!....finally, I know

So I know everyone has been super curious as to what I've been up to lately ;) so I figured it was about time to update this sucker!

So much has happened since I last put up a post, I'm not even sure where to begin...

I finished my first semester at SLCC. I'm going to toot my own horn for a minute because I'm pretty proud of myself. I never really felt "smart enough" to be in college and pull off good grades. I know this was due to my lack of effort. This second time around I have LOVED being in school. I worked hard, studied, went to all of my classes and....I got a 100% on my FINAL and an A++ in the class!!! This summer I am finishing an online class and taking a math test...hopefully I'll pass it so that I don't have to take math again. I don't think all the effort in the world would help me pass that class!! I'll be starting up normal classes again in the fall.

I started my new position at work!! I LOVE it! Its just a great feeling to have to work to do and feel like you are getting something accomplished. My position before was very unfulfilling for me. Now there is always something to do, its great! Not to mention I have amazing co-workers in my department. They definitely make coming to work even more enjoyable.

I have also started working a part-time job. On the weekends you can find me at The Kid Barn! It is a really fun daycare. It is a warehouse FULL of inflatable bouncers! We have everything from giant slides to obstacle courses to bouncing castles! We also do birthday parties. I love little kids and its so fun to just run around with them and play...and get paid for it!

Lets see...what else...

I got to talk to my brother on Mother's Day! He is in Peru, serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Its crazy to think that he has been there almost a year! He left last July. He has told me some of the best stories. I am so proud of him! Next summer my family is planning a trip to Peru to go sightseeing when he is released. I can not wait!!

It FINALLY feels likes summer!! After the longest winter in history...it finally reached 90 degrees!! I was in the best mood all weekend because of it. My favorite thing is to be able to drive in my car with the music blasting and all my windows and sun roof open. Not much gets better than that! Me and Jake have a lot planned for the summer so we are so glad that its finally warming up and we get put our plans into action!

Also, I just finished a really amazing book...The Last Lecture. I feel amazingly blessed after reading it and recommend it to everyone! If you hate reading, then listen to the lecture by Randy Pausch.

Its a great reminder about how short and precious life is....live it to the fullest.

SLC Marathon

Well, my legs are KILLING me now, but it was a BLAST! Saturday I ran in the SLC 5k along with the whole city I think!! I could not belive what a big deal it was and how many people were running! I was planning on training for the 1/2 marathon but never really found the time or dedication to stick to my training schedule. Hopefully I'll get back on track so I can run the Moab 1/2 marathon in October with my cousin Carlye.

I seriously had so much fun! I'm pretty sure I'll be addicted to racing now and hopefully I'll be able to keep improving my time. And of course who can pass up free stuff? Once you pass the finish line people are just handing all sorts of fun and yummy things at you! I didn't realize how hard it would be to go from training on a treadmill to actually running outside. After about mile one I felt like I had already ran my 3.1 miles!!

Here are some LOVELY pictures of me crossing the finish line! What an AMAZING feeling that was...even if it was only the 5k!!

Cupcakes and Promotions!

Well this week has been full of exciting news!

I have been working at Integrated Title since July as a receptionist. I absolutely love working here but the job was a bit monotonous....On Wednesday I had a big meeting with my boss and received my first big PROMOTION! As soon as next week I could be moving up to my new position in customer service. This is a really great move for me. I will get to be super busy and learn a ton about the industry I work in. This is really a great opportunity and I am so excited to get started! Jake took me out to dinner last night to celebrate the big news which was fabulous! He was just as excited as I was and its so great to have his support.

Also, on the side I have started a cupcake catering business with a friend. The first order went out this week and turned out great!! It generated a lot of buzz and now we already have three more orders. We are also meeting with a couple of day cares that do hourly day care and birthday parties to promote our business and hopefully work out some catering deals!! So if anyone is interested in ordering cupcakes for any occasion let me know! They are all made from scratch and custom to your event.

Cheers for the Beers!

In honor of St. Patty's....a toast!

Of all my favorite things to do,
the utmost is to have a brew.
My love grows for my foamy friend,

with each thirst-quenching elbow bend.

Beer's so frothy, smooth and cold--
It's paradise--pure liquid gold.
Yes, beer means many things to me...

That's all for now, I gotta pee!

Goblin Valley

Over the weekend Jake and I had quite the adventure! We had our bags packed and ready to head out to San Francisco after Jake got off of work on Friday and unfortunately, we ran into a slight problem. Our plane tickets were buddy passes, so we had to fly stand by. The flights ended up being full, so we weren't able to get on and make it out there. Even though we were disappointed we were prepared with a back up plan in case this happened so...we re-packed our bags for Goblin Valley!

We left Saturday morning SUPER early....Jake surprised me by having the truck all packed up when I woke up! All I had to do was roll out of bed and get in the car...which I literally did. We left around 5:30 am! After driving for a while we stopped for breakfast in Price. There is absolutely NOTHING in Price. It might be the grossest city in Utah!

We were so excited once we finally made it to Goblin Valley. I had never been there before and had no idea what to expect. Our camping area was on the other side of the valley so we went there first and TRIED to get our camp set up. The wind was seriously out of control!! I'm sure if anyone was watching us try to put up the tent they would have peed their pants laughing at us. There was one point where we were each holding a pole on either side, the wind came and completely inflated out eight man tent (we borrowed this tent from my roommate and had no idea how massive it was until we were trying to put it up!) and almost took flight with us holding on! After that happened we gave up on trying to put it together and decided to just head down to the valley. This is a picture of the "Goblin Guardians." They sit right before the entrance to the valley.

Once we got down into the valley I was amazed. This is the craziest looking place I have ever seen!! There were thousands of formations everywhere. They all look like they have faces on them, hence the name Goblin Valley. They also filmed Galaxy Quest here. These pictures do not do this place justice.

Once we got down into the valley we went on a really intense rock climb to the top of one of the buttes. This summer we plan on taking a rock climbing course so that we can climb different places around Utah. The view from the top was gorgeous. We were only able to take it in for a couple of minutes before the wind kicked in and almost knocked us off.

Once we hiked down and got back to our campsite, we had had enough of the wind. It was still early in the evening so we decided to pack up and head home instead of being miserable all night after such an amazing day. So we loaded up and started heading home. Once we got back to Price it had started to snow. We reached the entrance to the canyon and found out it was closed so we ended up getting stuck in Price! After trying a couple of hotels we finally found one that wasn't too disgusting and had some open rooms. It was so nice to just be able to relax after our climb. We were both exhausted!! The canyon was open in the morning so we were able to make it home finally!

I could not have hoped for a better weekend. It was perfect! Even though we didn't make it to San Fran, we had so much fun we couldn't stop talking about it the whole way home! And we just bought tickets to San Francisco so we're headed there in a couple of weeks with out having to worry if we'll get on a flight!!

Thanks babe for such a great weekend! I love you!!
